Pianist Karina Ĺžabac has
performed worldwide with distinguished
artists such as conductor John Lubbock (UK), Paul Nadler (US), violinist Midori Goto in the Disney Hall, Los Angeles,
cellist Ivan Monigheti in Portugal, violinist Michelle Kim (assistant
principal of NY Phil) and cellist Ronald Leonard (former principal
cellist LA Phil) in Los Angeles. Most recently she performed with
Sherban Lupu, Tomasz Tomaszewsky, Hartmut Rohde and Catalin Ilea in
several chamber music concerts of the Rumänische Kammermusikabende and
the Enescu Tage in Berlin.
Mrs. Ĺžabac has played solo recitals
and as soloist with orchestras in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin
Philharmonie, München Gasteig, with the St John’s Orchestra-London,
with the Bucharest, Iassy, and Arad Philharmonics, with the Bucharest
Radio Orchestra and Das Symfonie Orchester Berlin. Her recordings of
solo piano works and concertos have been made for and broadcast by New
York- WQXR, Berlin- SFB3, Los Angeles- KMozart, Bucharest- National
Radio. Mrs. Ĺžabac started teaching at age 19 when she was the
youngest person to receive the Teaching Assistantship position at
University of Southern California. Since then she has been a Judge in
several competitions in the US, at the First International Piano
Competition of the World Piano Pedagogy Conference- Atlanta, and in New
York at the NYSSMA piano festival. As Faculty and Artist in
residence Mrs. Ĺžabac taught and performed at chamber music festivals in
Viana do Castelo- Portugal, Grand Junction- Colorado, US and in Chester
- UK.
Mrs. Ĺžabac has studied and lived in Berlin, Los Angeles
and New York, returning back to Europe in 2007. Besides her main
mentors Andrei Vieru, Mme Popisteanu, Klaus Hellwig, John Perry and
Phillip Kawin she worked with Georgy Sebok (Indiana University), and
Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio).
At 19 years old she was the youngest person to
obtain her University Diploma in Berlin at the same time with her
high-school diploma: the final Bacalaureat-exam in the George Enescu
Music High-school Bucharest. After her German University studies
Mrs. Ĺžabac was invited by Professor John Perry to go to University of
Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. There she obtained under full
scholarship and the Dean’s Award a Masters Degree and a graduate
Certificate Degree in Piano Performance. Later, in 2007 Mrs. Ĺžabac
was only the 6th Student in Manhattan School of Music’s history to receive the prestigeous Artist Diploma. At the same time she received
the Rubinstein Award for “the most promising career of a
female pianist.”

Recently
Mrs Şabac has participated both as a performer and artistic director in the 2008 “Rumänische Kammermusikabende in Berlin” and in the 2010 ZARVA Festival - Vaals, NL. She performed in different chamber music recitals with members of the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2011 she was invited by conductor Marcus Bosch to participate as musical assistant in the opera Fidelio (L.v.Beethoven) within the Heidenheim Opernfestpiele, Germany. In 2012 she was re-invited in the same festival for the opera Carmen (G.Bizet). In February of 2012 she will perform as soloist with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra in Ukraine with conductor Marijn Simons the Ravel Concerto in G major.
